Overcoming preeclampsia

The most wonderful part of hypnosis during conception and pregnancy is that it can help prepare you for the hurdles and the joys of becoming a mother! Read Pam’s story below:

I had every intention of having a fully natural hypnobirthing experience. Yet much to my surprise at 38 weeks I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and was on my way to the hospital to be induced. I was in shock- upset- irritated -that things were not going as I had so carefully planned. With my husbands help, I came to realize that it was this exact thing that hypnobirthing prepares you for- the unexpected! The skills that Jacqui taught us were invaluable. I was in labor for 48 hours (no meds-but pitocin)- then had an epidural, and a few hours later started pushing– that lasted for 6.5 hours, and finally after all that, had an emergency c-section. We used the techniques and relaxation methods from the moment we realized- this is IT we are having a baby. No matter how our baby arrived- being relaxed really helped us to be present  and in the moment at our son’s birth. From that day forward we have each used these techniques to center ourselves clearly in each moment we share with him.
Shane is a relaxed laid back baby- I believe that at least some of that comes from his father and I being relaxed as well- and that, in turn, comes from our experience with Jacqui.
